Mission: Readiness is the nonpartisan organization of more than 500 retired admirals, generals, and other retired senior military leaders who have joined forces to improve national security by promoting solutions to the problems that disqualify more than 70 percent of the nation’s young adults from serving in the military.

These problems include being too poorly educated to pass the military’s entrance exam of math, literacy and problem solving skills, being too overweight, or having a serious criminal record. These are dire problems that can only be solved through policies and practices that improve nutrition and physical activity opportunities in schools and communities, and through high academic standards and education reforms that prepare young people for postsecondary education and 21st Century careers, including the military for those who wish to serve.
